The Miami Dolphins have been quite busy this offseason, bringing in several players from other teams in the last week for the 2026 season, including defensive back Lonnie Johnson Jr .
According to Over the Cap , Miami gave Johnson a one-year deal worth $1.49 million. The deal includes a $1.3 million base salary and a $187,500 signing bonus. His cap hit for 2026 is $1.26 million.
If the Dolphins wanted to move on from Johnson before Week 1, they could do so and save most of the deal ($1.08) while getting charged a small dead cap hit ($187,500).
While the contract doesn't guarantee him a spot on the roster for the season opener, Johnson's ability to play cornerback and safety in the NFL may give the Dolphins a reason to keep him around.
