Donte DiVincenzo explains why Anthony Edwards is different from other superstars: "That's insane to wrap he's only 24"

Donte DiVincenzo  may still have several productive years left in his NBA career and more championships to chase, but his eight-year journey has already been uniquely shaped by playing alongside some of the game's greatest stars. From sharing the floor with Stephen Curry during his stint with the Golden State Warriors to playing next to Giannis Antetokounmpo with the Milwaukee Bucks , DiVincenzo has witnessed elite greatness firsthand.

Yet despite those experiences, he believes there is something distinctly different about up-and-coming superstar  Anthony Edwards . On a recent occasion, DDV emphasized how exciting it has been to share the court with Ant-Man, praising the young guard's fearless mindset and relentless drive to elevate his standing in the league's hierarchy.

DiVincenzo is seeing an ascending Edwards

During his four-year tenure in Milwaukee, Dont witnessed Giannis firmly establish himself among the league's best after winning two consecutive MVP awards, a DPOY honor, and even leading the Bucks to their first championship in 50 years.

Later, in his lone season with Golden State, he witnessed Curry continue to dominate at the age of 35, averaging a stellar 29.7 points per game in the 2022-23 season. Then, during his on-and-off spell with the New York Knicks , DDV saw Jalen Brunson average 28.7 points per game.

Despite playing alongside such established names, DiVincenzo believes Edwards stands apart because of the confidence and competitive hunger he displays at such a young age. Ant consistently raises his level against elite opponents and embraces marquee matchups with the intention of proving himself as the best player on the floor.

Put simply, Donte wholeheartedly appreciates Anthony not only for averaging over 27.0 points per game in the two seasons he has been by his side, but also for his ability to impact winning in multiple ways — whether through scoring bursts, defensive intensity, or creating opportunities for his teammates. DiVincenzo thinks no other young superstar in the league possesses such versatility and flair as this four-time All-Star.

"Ant's different because of where he is at right now, in his career, and I talk about him being young; Steph was older than Ant. Giannis? Same thing, he had already kind of blown up. That's insane to wrap your head around that he's 24 and he's doing the things that he's doing,"  DiVincenzo  said "He's already so good, and he knows he can take it to another level… it's just fun to be along."

Edwards needs team success to validate his superstardom

That being said, for Ant, to truly separate himself from the league's growing pool of superstars, the next step lies in translating individual brilliance into team success — delivering the T-Wolves their first NBA championship would be the defining milestone capable of elevating his standing into the league's unquestioned elite tier.

Safe to say Edwards' confidence and mentality at this stage of his career already resemble traits many current superstars developed much later, but sustained postseason success remains the final test.
