- Dublin Jerome hockey shuts out St. Charles for OHSAA regional title
The Dublin Jerome hockey team lost four close games against St. Charles earlier in the 2025-26 season. In the regional final March 8 at OhioHealth Ice Haus, the Celtics played with a new edge.
Although top-seeded St. Charles held the upper hand in shots and offensive pressure, the second-seeded Celtics played shut-down defense and held on for a 2-0 win , advancing to state for the first time since 2019.

"The whole season, we've been on just defense as far as defense first. That's all we do," Beuselinck said. "It's about patience, composure [and] just making the next [save]."
Despite losses of 1-0, 3-2, 3-1 and 1-0 to St. Charles during the regular season, Jerome did not feel like an underdog. After the second 1-0 loss, in the Blue Jackets Cup semifinals Feb. 7, Beuselinck said as a team, the Celtics knew "we weren't done yet."
Minutes after the first puck drop, defenseman Trevor Randles set the tone by laying a hit against a St. Charles forward for the puck.

"[The] 50-50 puck battles are must-win," Randles said. "... It was a huge momentum changer. It got our student section going."
Dublin Jerome goalie John Michael Beuselinck (35) makes a glove save during a 2-0 victory over St. Charles in the regional final March 8 at OhioHealth Ice Haus.
With 1:32 left in the first, St. Charles' Mikey Pagnotto made a costly tripping penalty. Just 20 seconds later, Celtics leading scorer Luke Myers buried a goal on the power play.
St. Charles' best chance came on two consecutive power plays in the latter half of the second period, but each was killed by a stout Celtics defense.
"That was no surprise to me that we could kill off three penalties," Jerome coach Pat Murphy said. "So it's to our defensive system when we're manned out. And of course, it starts in the net."
Dublin Jerome defenseman Dylan Forney (11) and goalie John Michael Beuselinck (35) celebrate a 2-0 victory over St. Charles in the regional final March 8 at OhioHealth Ice Haus.
St. Charles coach Danny Greiner acknowledged the difference made by Jerome's first-period aggressiveness, followed by a silencing penalty kill.

"Jerome did a great job taking away the lanes," he said. "I think at that point, we were gripping our sticks a little tight. We're kind of just taking low-percentage shots. ... But I mean, that's all [credit] to them."
Goalie Dylan Bell made seven saves for St. Charles, which was seeking to reach state for the first time since 2024.
Jerome will play in a state semifinal March 14 at Nationwide Arena. In 2019, the Celtics became the first central Ohio team to reach the state final.
