Duke Gets Major Update on 5-Star Recruit in Latest Twist

The Duke Blue Devils are looking to reload their roster for the future, hoping to restore the former glory of the program .
Duke has been trying to land five-star recruit Demarcus Henry, but he's currently looking at multiple options. The 6-foot-7 small forward has announced his top eight schools, with the Blue Devils not being named on the list.

Henry is the No. 4 prospect in the 2027 class. The schools he originally listed were Arkansas, BYU, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Ohio State, UNC, and UConn.
However, Duke has made him an offer, throwing a wrench into the plans. Analyst Joe Tipton of On3 has the latest in the pursuit of Henry for the Blue Devils.
"Since then, Duke extended him an offer, which could make things interesting. Henry grew up in Charlotte and has been vocal that schools like Duke and North Carolina were his dream schools. One of his agents, Carmen Wallace, played basketball at Duke in the 1990s. The Tar Heels were able to gain early momentum, but a late offer from Duke tells me the Blue Devils think they have a chance in this one," Tipton wrote .
With Duke believing that Henry could be swayed to come to them, the program could be getting a real game-changer. Henry is a natural move, who possesses the physical tools needed to play the forward position.

One of his biggest strengths is that he is a switchable defender, with tremendous upside to keep growing. Henry's size allows him to get good movement against opponents, and he can make life very tough for whomever he is guarding.
The forward could end up being a strong three-and-D type player for any program, giving him a chance to be viewed highly from the NBA. His skills-set and body type are exactly what professional teams want, and Duke could be a strong landing spot for him to develop.
Henry is expected to take visits at each school, including Duke. This should take place over the fall, with visits likely coming in September, October, and November.
The small forward wants to make his decision by the early signing period in November, but that remains to be seen. Given that there are so many schools involved, there could be more surprises to come in this recruitment process.
But Duke is hopeful that Henry will decide to come join them this fall, giving their 2027 recruiting class a massive boost.
