Former Pittsburgh Steelers CB Darius Slay is now a Buffalo Bill after being claimed off waivers, but new reports indicate that a reunion with the Philadelphia Eagles was closer than many realized.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Eagles put in a claim to acquire Slay off waivers, but the Bills ' priority over them dashed any hopes of a return to Philly.
Signing with the Steelers on a one-year contract worth $10 million this offseason, Slay struggled in coverage throughout the 2025 season, eventually being benched less than a year after winning a Super Bowl with Philadelphia.
With Slay heading to Buffalo, the Steelers will move forward with Joey Porter Jr. , James Pierre , and Asante Samuel Jr . as their top outside corner options, while Eagles fans are left wondering what could've been.
