Eagles rumors: Insider reveals 'aggressive' truth about Howie Roseman's job security amid A.J. Brown trade buzz appeared first on ClutchPoints . Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here .
The Philadelphia Eagles could be on the verge of another big trade, and this time it involves sending away wide receiver A.J. Brown . For most of the offseason, Brown has been in trade rumors, but Howie Roseman has always been a man who wants the best deal for his team. That thinking has led him to a lot of success as the general manager.
Roseman may be one of the more aggressive general managers in the league, and it's not because he thinks his job is on the line , according to Zach Berman of The Athletic.
"There's a perception that Howie Roseman can make these types of deals because of job security. It might be a chicken-or-egg conversation, but Jeffrey Lurie views it the other way around: Roseman has this job security because of how he's aggressive with trade — he's not aggressive with trades because of job security," Berman wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
In the simplest way to explain it, Roseman doesn't make moves because of desperation; he makes them because he has the green light to do so. What makes it even more gratifying is that Roseman usually makes the best of the trades, which is why the Eagles have been successful over the past few years.
The latest update on the Brown trade is that things should be heating up with the New England Patriots after 4 p.m. on June 1, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
"I was told the Patriots remain confident that they can get this deal done. When I checked with a source on trade terms, I was told that [both] sides are "working on it," Fowler said on SportsCenter. "So after 4:01PM tomorrow is… that time that we've been waiting on. The Eagles can spread that cap hit out over two years instead of one."
If the deal gets done, that means that Roseman got what he wanted.
