It's no secret that the Philadelphia Eagles have found themselves in quite the tough spot over the last few weeks, as the roster has seemingly been bitten by the injury bug. Whether it was Dallas Goedert, who missed a few weeks due to an MCL sprain in his right knee, DeVonta Smith, who is battling a hamstring and toe injury, Jalen Hurts, who is dealing with a superficial blood clot, or Saquon Barkley, who is on the injury list due to an ailing hamstring.
All in all, Nick Sirianni has had to reach deep down the depth chart to find solutions, and it appears that the Eagles just made a move to help provide some more depth.
Eagles sign Ian Wheeler to a practice camp deal
According to an announcement put out by Philadelphia, the team is signing former Chicago Bears running back Ian Wheeler to a practice camp deal. Wheeler has yet to make a regular-season appearance in the NFL, having only had training camp deals with Chicago, as well as the Buffalo Bills previously.
But if his four years playing for Howard are anything to go by, there is something to be molded on the field, as he recorded 1143 yards and 14 touchdowns in that timeframe.
Given that it's only a practice team deal, it's not entirely impossible for Wheeler to be elevated to the game-day squad in the coming days, but that likelihood remains undisclosed at the time, as the Eagles don't have their final injury report for Sunday's match against the Carolina Panthers set yet.
If Wheeler gets elevated, it will be something to look out for in the days to come, on top of the several storylines surrounding the Eagles at the moment.
