- Who earned game balls after Bills escaped Los Angeles with wild overtime win?
One blocked field goal gave Buffalo life, and the Bills did not waste it.
For most of Monday night, the Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Rams seemed determined to see which team could deliver the final dramatic blow.

Buffalo took a seven-point lead with 1:39 remaining. Los Angeles erased it in 94 seconds. The Bills received the ball first in overtime, drove into Rams territory and then gave it away when James Cook fumbled.
Los Angeles moved close enough to attempt a 48-yard field goal for the win. Greg Rousseau made sure it never had the chance. Rousseau blocked the kick, and Tyler Bass ended the game with a 45-yard field goal. Buffalo escaped SoFi Stadium with a 37-34 victory and improved to 4-1.
Joe Brady recognized the three he felt deserved game balls.
Game ball: Greg Rousseau
"I'll never get tired of giving him game balls," Joe Brady said before recognizing Rousseau. Rousseau did not dominate the defensive box score.

But none of that mattered when Buffalo needed one play to keep the game alive.
Cook's overtime fumble gave Los Angeles possession at its own 20-yard line. Matthew Stafford moved the Rams 50 yards in eight plays, setting up what should have been the game-winning attempt. Rousseau broke through the protection and got his hand on the kick.
Instead of watching Los Angeles celebrate, Buffalo's defense walked off the field having given Allen and the offense one final opportunity.
Game ball: Tyler Bass
Bass' night was not perfect, but it ended perfectly. He made field goals from 49 and 23 yards during the first half before missing the extra point following Keon Coleman's third-quarter touchdown. That miss briefly looked as though it might become a much larger part of the story.

Bass answered when Buffalo needed him again.
He made the extra point after Cook's late touchdown and then converted from 45 yards in overtime, finishing the game with 11 total points.
Game ball: Buffalo's offensive line
Buffalo entered the game with a depleted receiving corps and finished it without starting right tackle Spencer Brown, who left during the second quarter with a back injury. The offensive line still helped the Bills produce their best rushing performance of the season.
Buffalo carried 37 times for 234 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 6.3 yards per attempt. Allen rushed for 121 yards, Cook added 111 more.

Brown played only 16 offensive snaps before Tylan Grable replaced him for the remaining 48.
Despite the adjustment, Buffalo allowed only one official sack and repeatedly created running lanes against a Rams defensive front featuring Aaron Donald. The Bills did not simply accumulate rushing yards on a handful of broken plays. They leaned on the ground game throughout the night, running 37 times compared with only 19 pass attempts.
Honorable mention: Josh Allen
Allen completed only 12 of 19 passes, finishing with 210 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Buffalo's depleted receiving corps did not provide many easy answers, so Allen created his own. He carried the ball 10 times for 121 yards and a touchdown.

Honorable mention: Ty Johnson
Johnson played only 14 offensive snaps, but he made nearly every one of his opportunities count.
He caught all four of his targets for 72 yards, including gains of 40 and 26. His four receptions accounted for one-third of Buffalo's completions and more than one-third of its passing yards. That is a substantial contribution from a player who was on the field for only 22% of the offensive snaps.
Honorable mention: James Cook
Cook's night requires two separate conversations.
The first is about his production. After receiving only 12 carries against New England, he handled 25 against the Rams.

The second conversation is about holding onto the football.
Cook fumbled twice. Buffalo recovered the first, but the second came in overtime after the offense had already crossed midfield. That turnover gave the Rams a direct opportunity to win and required Rousseau to rescue the game.
Cook may still deserve an honorary game ball after rushing for 111 yards and two touchdowns. But given how overtime went, and the 10 other lost fumbles since 2025; someone else should probably carry it to him and make sure the handoff is clean.
The production was too important to ignore. So was the mistake. Both can be true.
