Efraín Álvarez: A left foot that makes a difference for the Rebaño
The Rebaño's No. 10 is enjoying a strong run of form and having an increasingly important influence on Guadalajara's attacking play. His technical ability, vision and capacity to find solutions with his left foot have made him an important asset for Gabriel Milito's team.
A clear example of his impact came against Atlante, in Chivas' 4-2 victory on Matchday 15 of the Apertura 2026. In that match, he scored a spectacular goal after taking on two opponents and also provided an assist. Beyond his direct contributions to the scoreboard, the midfielder played a key role in creating advantages and adding depth to the Rebaño's attack.

His long-range passes were one of the main tools used to bring Richard Ledezmaand Bryan Gonzálezinto play, finding spaces behind the opposition's defensive line and delivering accurate balls that put his teammates in advantageous positions. One of those connections led directly to his assist for Santiago Sandoval, finding him in a position that was difficult for the Potros to defend.
However, Efraín'srepertoire goes far beyond long passes. His ability to combine in tight spaces, position himself effectively and find passing lanes also allows him to keep attacking moves flowing and create better opportunities for his teammates. He is a player capable of connecting different areas of the pitch and providing solutions both in the build-up and in the final third.
His performances have continued to improve in recent matches, and Gabriel Militohas found different ways to make the most of his abilities, deploying him as a right-sided central midfielder or even as part of a double pivot, a tactical variation that gives Chivas' midfield more options.
In the Apertura 2026, Álvarezhas featured in 14 matches, starting five of them and accumulating 576 minutes. During that span, he has recorded one goal and three assists, meaning he has been directly involved in a goal every 144 minutes. That is an impressive contribution for a player with his profile, especially considering he has alternated between starting appearances and coming off the bench.

With a left foot capable of changing the rhythm of a match, Efraín has become a player who brings different solutions to Guadalajara. Whether through a quick combination to beat the press or a long pass to break defensive lines, his talent is at the service of a Rebaño that continues to find greater value in his contributions.
