Miami football tight end Elija Lofton left the Hurricanes' game Friday, Sept. 18 with an injury. He was back to open the second half.

With 31 seconds left in the second quarter against Wake Forest, Mark Fletcher Jr. ran to the right side and was stuffed on third and short. On the other side of the play, Lofton was seen lying on his back. Trainers came out to look at his leg, and the tight end eventually got up and jogged off the field.

Lofton caught his first touchdown of the season from 21 yards out earlier in the second quarter. He had two catches for 32 yards in the game before his injury. The junior from Las Vegas entered the game with two catches for 23 yards.

Lofton is the third Hurricane to go down in this game. Defensive tackle Ahmad Moten briefly left with a shoulder injury in the first quarter, and running back Marty Brown suffered a knee injury in the second quarter that saw him carted to the locker room.
