Emery Jones Jr. Will Compete Right Away
Emery Jones Jr. gives the Ravens another young offensive lineman with real positional value.
Baltimore drafted him with tackle experience, but Eric DeCosta believes his skill set can translate inside, too. When asked about Jones' role, DeCosta made it clear the Ravens are not limiting him.
"Well, coming out, [Emery Jones Jr.] was a right tackle, and he's a damn good right tackle. We think he's going to be a damn good guard, too, coming off the injury. We think he's a talented guy with a great mentality and great makeup, and he's going to compete. He'll compete to start, and we're going to have great depth. We're going to have a great sixth man. I don't know who that sixth man is going to be, but whoever it is, if you come out of it with this group, you're going to be really talented, you're going to be really good. So, I like the depth that we have right now. We still have some moves to make. I think we're in a much better place than we have been, and I'm excited to see what happens."
That's a strong endorsement for a rookie who could factor in sooner than later.
