Enes Freedom takes a brutal shot at LeBron James over the national anthem controversy, challenging the NBA superstar to disrespect flags overseas.
Former NBA player Enes Freedom is not holding back, and LeBron James is once again finding himself at the center of a political firestorm.
After footage circulated appearing to show James working on his golf swing during the national anthem, Freedom delivered a ruthless response on social media.
Freedom offered to purchase James a first-class ticket to Iran, Russia, China, North Korea, Venezuela, or Cuba to see whether the NBA superstar would be willing to show the same perceived disrespect toward those countries' flags.
The message was clear: Freedom believes James is comfortable expressing himself in America but would not dare behave the same way in countries with far fewer political freedoms.
James has never been afraid to speak out on political and social issues, but his critics argue that his activism comes with a double standard. Freedom, who has repeatedly criticized James over his relationship with China, clearly sees this latest controversy as another opportunity to challenge the NBA icon.
Of course, the footage itself does not establish that James intended to disrespect the anthem. However, that has not stopped the controversy from spreading.
Freedom's comments have reignited a familiar debate about patriotism, freedom of expression, and whether high-profile athletes should be held to a different standard.
One thing is certain: Enes Freedom has absolutely no problem calling out LeBron James, and this latest attack might be one of his boldest yet.
