🎥 Even Hummels is wowed by the Bernabéu atmosphere
Mats Hummels has seen it all in football and played for two of the biggest clubs in the world. His time in Dortmund in particular, with the Yellow Wall behind him, is likely to have left a lasting mark on the World Cup winner from Rio when it comes to stadium atmosphere. And yet yesterday, during Prime Video's coverage, he was caught in a moment that apparently made quite an impression on the 37-year-old.
The scene at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu before the Champions League blockbuster between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich clearly did something to Hummels. With a dreamy look in his eyes, he soaked up the special atmosphere inside Real's football temple. Perhaps there was also a touch of melancholy, knowing that after the end of his playing career he can now only experience moments like these as a spectator rather than as one of the protagonists on the pitch. In the end, of course, only Hummels himself knows what he felt in that moment, but it certainly did not leave him unmoved. The footage makes that pretty clear.
