- Every Washington Commanders' player slated for 2026 free agency
The 2025 season is over for the Washington Commanders . For a team that went 12-5 and reached the NFC Championship Game last year, then 5-12 this year, that's good news.
The next step for the Commanders is determining how to fix one of the NFL's worst defenses. The good news is that Washington has money to spend in free agency. The Commanders will need to be more aggressive in acquiring players entering their primes, rather than filling the roster with veterans on one-year deals.

Before Washington turns its attention to the roster, it must decide on who will be the next defensive coordinator. Also, will offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury return? Then, the work on the roster begins.
The Commanders have a large number of free agents, led by names such as Bobby Wagner , Zach Ertz , Marcus Mariota , Von Miller and Deebo Samuel .
