Everything Texas A&M OC, players said after seventh spring practice
As Texas A&M continues to build towards the upcoming football season, Aggie fans can’t help but be thankful that HC Mike Elko opened up spring practice to the media. While the practices are still relatively low-intensity and not much can be gathered from just seven practices, the team has already seen its fair share of standout performances.
Since hiring Alabama WR coach Holomon Wiggins in 2024, Texas A&M has consistently improved its receiving corps, leaping from the talented yet somewhat inconsistent duo of Noah Thomas to the elite pairing of KC Concepcion and Mario Craver. This year appears to be no exception, as Craver is joined by the ever-improving Ashton Bethel-Roman, Alabama transfer WR Isaiah Horton, and a star-studded cast of incoming freshmen.
While the wideouts have been the spotlight of the early spring practices, they aren’t the only position group that’s looked impressive. Wiggins said in the press conference following the practice that “the running back room is looking really good.”
He specifically mentioned that Jamarion Morrow , who impressed in limited snaps in his freshman season, has slimmed down and consequently become faster, while star RB Rueben Owens II has built momentum since the end of last season.
It’s a good sign that Wiggins is high on his feet, as he said that “everything we do is going to start with the run”
Wiggins also shouted out Owens II, Marcel Reed, Horton, and Craver for their excellent play in Friday’s practice
Wiggins is bullish on Gregory and Madden Williams, the two wideouts leading the elite freshman group. Not only do “they have some unbelievable ability,” but they also “came in with a little bit of maturity.”
Isaiah Horton is also high on the freshman wideouts, noting their hungry attitude
OL Wilkin Fornby has many reasons to smile
Fornby then dropped some ball knowledge and explained his position change ahead of this season.
He also gave a more personal answer, opening up about his faith
Jordan Lockhart has the mindset every coach dreams of
