Ex-Packer Donald Driver's son to enter transfer portal

Cristian Driver, the son of former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver, announced Friday, Dec. 5 that he's leaving the Minnesota Gophers football team and entering the NCAA transfer portal.

"After talking with my family, I’ve decided to enter the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining," Cristian Driver wrote in a social media post. "Thank you to the Minnesota fans, the staff/advisors, and especially my teammates who became brothers to me. Grateful for every moment and excited for the next chapter."

Like his dad, Cristian is a wide receiver. A redshirt junior, he didn't play this season, but in 2024, he had seven catches for 49 yards and a touchdown in 11 games for the Gophers.

He spent his first two seasons at Penn State, the first as a defensive back before moving to receiver. He had one catch for eight yards in 2023.

Donald Driver spent his entire 14-year NFL career with the Packers and is the franchise's leader in career receptions, with 743, and receiving yards, with 10,137.
