QB Joe Milton III was caught off guard when he was traded from the Patriots to the Cowboys in May.
But in the two months he has been in Dallas , he has started to feel at home, and part of the reason is because of the team's starting quarterback.
"Dak (Prescott) is a great leader. ... All respect to him," Milton said on Thursday . "He literally goes out of his way to help me."
Milton alluded to the fact that the support he has gotten from a veteran like Prescott is different from what he was used to when he was in New England .
"I've been in another building. I know how that goes," Milton said. "It's just very different over here."
Milton made an instant good impression with the Cowboys soon after being traded during mini-camp last month. One Cowboys outlet said at the time that Dallas' staff "seem enamored with the strong-armed Milton."
"So excited about Joe," first-year Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said in May. "I was excited about Joe before we got him. We all reach out to people that you know. People that you trust, people that have been exposed to said player in college, in different programs, friends that have been around him to this day. … From the time he's been here. The work ethic is incredible."
