When the Minnesota Twins decided it was time to move on from former staff ace, Jose Berrios , back at the 2021 MLB trade deadline, team president Derek Falvey flipped him to Toronto for what was considered a pretty immense haul, at the time.
While Martin has proven himself as a competent depth outfielder off the bench, Woods Richardson hasn't been so fortunate this season. A few months ago, Simeon Woods Richardson was DFA'd after posting a 7.74 ERA (6.15 FIP) in 12 starts this season. Coincidentally, SWR landed back with the Blue Jays .
Blue Jays DFA former MN Twins Starter Simeon Woods Richardson
In eight appearances with the Blue Jays, all in relief, Woods Richardson posted a 3.93 ERA (4.94 FIP) in 18.1 innings pitched. However, he struggled to miss bats with his 92.6 MPH fastball (shocker) and underwhelming off-speed stuff.
And Friday, the Blue Jays designated Woods Richardson for assignment.

Now subject to waivers again, it's possible another team claims Woods Richardson. He was drafted out of high school in the 2nd round by the New York Mets . Maybe they have interested in a reunion with their 2018 selection.
There are plenty of pitching-starved teams, and he'll land an opportunity even without options remaining. Next year though, Woods Richardson is likely looking at a minor league deal that will come with someone hoping to rebuild his productiveness.
For now, any teeth-gnashing about the Twins moving on, and there wasn't much, can now be settled as wrong. The 4.04 ERA he posted as a depth starter in 2025 looks much more mirage than predictive at this point.
