CLEVELAND, Ohio —Ahead of Thursday night's road game against the Cleveland Browns, the Pittsburgh Steelers announced their inactives, headlined by rookie running back Eli Heidenreich , who won't suit up for the second week in a row.
The others not playing include tailback Rico Dowdle (toe), rookie defensive linemen Kevin Jobity and Gabriel Rubio and rookie quarterback Drew Allar. Will Howard will serve as Mike McCarthy's emergency third quarterback.
The Steelers called up fourth-year running back Lew Nichols to help bolster the backfield. Nichols was also brought up before a 30-27 win over the Cincinnati Bengals last Sunday, getting one carry for no gain.
"I really just stay even-keeled, man," Nichols said. "Not getting too high, not getting too low. Just being grateful for whatever position I am in at that moment. Everything has pros and cons, so just staying humble, and really just making the most of my opportunity, but I'm not really too caught up on fame and things of that sort. But, definitely, when I get my opportunity, I'm gonna make sure they know exactly who I am."
Jaylen Warren, meanwhile, spearheads the Steelers' charge on the ground, carrying the ball 17 times last week's AFC North victory.
