The Oklahoma City Thunder are one win away from a second straight trip to the NBA Finals after beating the San Antonio Spurs in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals on Tuesday. The Thunder will have a chance to close out the series and set up a matchup with the New York Knicks on Thursday evening back in San Antonio .
One topic of discourse throughout this season has been the allegations of Thunder MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander flopping and falling in order to draw foul calls.
Now, a fan on X, formerly Twitter, has gone viral for ranking all 44 such instances throughout this postseason run.
It's no secret that SGA knows how to bend the rules in his favor in order to draw fouls, but the real question has been whether the Thunder star does so more than any other elite scorers. Free throws have long been a major part of the formula for talented scorers throughout history, including players like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant , Dwyane Wade , and others whom Gilgeous-Alexander has started to be compared to.
While some may criticize the frequent contact with the hardwood, it's highly unlikely that the reason other players around the league don't draw as many fouls as SGA is that they're more "ethical."
For now, the two-time MVP and his Thunder teammates will look to drown out the noise and come out locked in for Game 6 in San Antonio, in front of what is sure to be a raucous crowd. Oklahoma City has the rare opportunity to win back to back championships this year, something that hasn't been done in almost a decade, and history would likely remember that accomplishment more than it will the number of times SGA hit the deck.
