The New York Yankees are finishing a three-game series with the Athletics . As the series wraps up, the team has released the lineup. After Aaron Boone made his decision, he also told Yankees fans not to worry about Jazz Chisholm Jr. not being in the lineup, according to Yankees' beat writer Gary Phillips.
"Some #Yankees lineup stuff, per Aaron Boone: Paul Goldschmidt is expected to play tomorrow vs. the # Rays . The current plan is to give Giancarlo Stanton the day off on Saturday. Boone wants to get Aaron Judge a DH day at the Trop. Today's just a day off for Jazz Chisholm Jr.. Nothing physical," Phillips wrote on X.
Chisholm has not met expectations so far in the Bronx, hitting just .190 with three RBIs and two runs. He has played every game this season, but now he will get a chance to recharge. Ultimately, it might help. Chisholm chose the Bronx and wanted to play for the Yankees. But his struggles at the plate have been evident.
Chisholm was a powerhouse last season, batting .242 with 31 home runs, 80 RBIs, and 75 runs. Therefore, there were major expectations. Even Chisholm made grand predictions about his 2026 season, but the numbers have not been there. The team has stated there is no injury. This could be a way to get him some rest and possibly get back on track.
With the Yankees off to an 8-3 start, they have managed to thrive even without Chisholm doing well. But his getting off the ground could push the team even further. After their series concludes with the Athletics, the Yankees will head to Florida to face the Tampa Bay Rays. Chisholm likely figures to get back into the lineup.
