Nothing is permanent in this world except for change. And a tattoo. Okay, you can easily have it erased or covered up these days, but the ridicule for a questionable choice of a tattoo? That could be permanent.
Nebraska forward Berke Buyuktuncel learned it the hard way.
Or should we say former Nebraska forward?
Buyuktuncel entered the transfer portal after two years with the Cornhuskers, helping them reach the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament for the first time. He was also instrumental in Nebraska tallying 28 wins, the most in program history.
To commemorate it, Buyuktuncel had it tattooed on his arm. A day later, he entered the transfer portal, as posted by ESPN.
Fans on X could not help but roast the 21-year-old junior for his decision-making.
“Bro got a lifetime tattoo then said, ‘New team, new life.’ That’s crazy timing,” said @Appyidap17.
“He actually tattooed his three-point percentage,” added @frankfracker.
“Is it weird or actually kind of iconic to tattoo a team you just left?” asked @austin_2530.
“I can’t accept this,” remarked @sbaltensperger.
“What a clown. There’s no loyalty even to a program on the rise like Nebraska,” commented @Joeyus63.
Plenty also defended Buyuktuncel, saying there is nothing wrong with wanting to have a remembrance from his time at Nebraska before he moves forward in his career.
The 6-foot-9 Buyuktuncel, who hails from Turkey, averaged 6.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks in 24.3 minutes as a starter for the Cornhuskers.
He played his freshman year at UCLA before transferring to Nebraska in 2024.
Buyuktuncel should get a lot of interest from programs looking to add a gritty forward.
