FC Dallas and Toronto FC are competing for one of the most prestigious players in Major League Soccer , according to a recent report.
Apparently, both the Texans and the Canadians are in search of a center-back to reinforce their rosters for the 2026 MLS season, and the two clubs have set their sights on the same player.
According to The Athletic's Tom Bogert , FC Dallas and Toronto FC have shown interest in signing Nashville SC and USMNT defender Walker Zimmerman .
Zimmerman, 32, ends his contract with Nashville at the end of December and could change clubs within MLS. "At this stage of his career, the U.S. international is best in a team that defends a little bit deeper," Bogert wrote.
"FC Dallas and Toronto FC are two clubs who may be in the mix for Zimmerman, per sources briefed on the situation," he added. "Both need defensive upgrades, and Zimmerman's impact on a team both on and off the field is hugely beneficial."

Walker Zimmerman Still Has a Lot to Give in MLS
Zimmerman has spent his entire career in MLS and has established himself as one of the most reliable center-backs over the years.
Despite his age, which gives him veteran status, the Lawrenceville, Georgia, native has the physicality and qualities necessary to continue performing at a good level.
"Zimmerman began his career with Dallas, part of the team that won the U.S. Open Cup and Supporters' Shield in 2016," Bogert recalled in his article. "He won the 2019 Shield with LAFC , the club's first trophy, then helped guide Nashville to its first trophy this year, the U.S. Open Cup."
During the 2025 season, Zimmerman was the defender with the most blocks (0.8) and clearances (5.4) per 90 minutes for Nashville. Additionally, he also ranked second in interceptions per 90 (1.3).
