- Five Eagles under pressure to deliver vs. Commanders in Week 8
The Philadelphia Eagles enter Sunday's matchup against the Washington Commanders with a 2-5 record, a five-game losing streak, and growing pressure on several players expected to help turn the season around.
Philadelphia's 38-21 loss to Dallas exposed persistent problems along the defensive line, while injuries continue to leave Tanner McKee with an unsettled group of offensive playmakers. The Eagles cannot rely solely on improved health to solve their problems against Washington.

1. Jalen Carter, defensive tackle
Carter played 59 of Philadelphia's 68 defensive snaps against Dallas, an 87% workload, but the Eagles struggled to affect Dak Prescott and allowed 204 rushing yards. That disconnect between playing time and production puts more pressure on their most prominent interior defender.
Carter must help collapse the pocket, control blockers, and prevent Washington from establishing manageable down-and-distance situations. His impact cannot be measured exclusively through sacks, but Philadelphia needs more disruption from the middle of its defense.

2. Arnold Ebiketie, outside linebacker
Ebiketie played 48 defensive snaps against Dallas, accounting for 71% of Philadelphia's defensive workload. With Nolan Smith working through concussion protocol and Jonathan Greenard managing an ankle injury, the Eagles have needed extensive contributions from their available edge rushers.
Philadelphia failed to record a sack or quarterback hit against Prescott. Ebiketie must provide more consistent pressure without losing rush-lane discipline against the mobile Jayden Daniels.
3. Tanner McKee, quarterback
McKee played all 66 offensive snaps against Dallas, completing 14 of 22 passes for 129 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The Eagles produced two early touchdown drives but could not sustain that momentum.

McKee does not need to replicate Jalen Hurts' mobility. He needs to protect the football, recognize pressure, and consistently move Philadelphia into scoring position. Washington's struggling defense presents an opportunity to improve his efficiency.
4. Makai Lemon, wide receiver
Lemon played 60 offensive snaps against Dallas, representing 91% of Philadelphia's total, and caught his first NFL touchdown. His role has grown because of injuries to DeVonta Smith, Dontayvion Wicks, and other receiving options.
If those absences continue, Lemon must turn increased playing time into dependable production. Creating separation on intermediate routes and giving McKee a reliable third-down target could help prevent another stagnant offensive performance.

5. Jordan Davis, defensive tackle
Davis logged 44 defensive snaps against Dallas, or 65%, and enters another matchup in which Philadelphia must establish control at the line of scrimmage.
His primary responsibility is preventing Washington's running backs from consistently reaching the second level. Davis must also complement Carter by keeping the pocket compact enough to limit Daniels' escape routes.
Final analysis
The Eagles have talent throughout their lineup, but it hasn't translated into consistent execution. Sunday offers another opportunity for their highest-profile contributors to change that trend.
