Florida K Trey Smack drafted by Green Bay in 6th round of NFL Draft

Florida K Trey Smack drafted by Green Bay in 6th round of NFL Draft

The Green Bay Packers selected Florida Gators place kicker Trey Smack with the No. 216 pick in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft on Saturday afternoon. After four years in Gainesville, he now looks to take his game to the next level as a professional.

The 6-foot-1-inch, 201-pound Severna Park, Maryland, product took over the primary kicking duties during his sophomore year, retaining that job through the next two-plus seasons. Over the course of his collegiate career, he missed only one extra point attempt in 101 tries (99.0%) and nailed 53 of his 64 field goal attempts (82.8%), while setting the program record for most 50-plus yard field goals made with 10 as a Gator.

Smack was included on the All-SEC Third Team as well as the Phil Steele Fourth Team SEC All-Conference, while being named a Lou Groza Semifinalist in 2025; he was also a Groza Award semifinalist in 2023. He was named an SEC Special Teams Player of the Week three times at Florida : twice in 2023 (Weeks 4 and 7) and once in 2024 (Week 12).

The former Gator participated in the 2026 East-West Shrine Bowl, in which he sent a 57-yard attempt perfectly between the uprights for the West team.

Smack entered the draft as the top-rated placekicker based on his ability to deliver beyond the 50-yard mark without having to drive the ball with a lower trajectory, as well as his ability to cover and tackle on kickoffs. His skill set and consistency give him an above-average chance of making it in the NFL — especially given his ability to also punt in a pinch.
