The Florida Gators are in the mix to land five-star point guard Beckham Black, who is the third overall prospect for the 2027 class.
"Duke, Arkansas, and Texas are three teams sources believe are shaping up well for Beckham Black, the No. 3 overall prospect in the 2027 class," Joe Tipton wrote . "The 6-foot-3 point guard is also a top priority for Florida, USC, Miami, and North Carolina. Those are the main programs to know at this point."

Black is an elite point guard prospect who averaged 22 points, four rebounds, and five assists, shooting 48 percent from the field and 35 percent from three in the EYBL.
He also played at a high level for Team USA, as he averaged 12 points and eight assists per game.
Black's playmaking and scoring ability could translate to instant success when he heads off to college. The Gators will have a ton of competition from other top programs to land him, but they have a great track record over the last couple of years, which could be enticing to Black.

Florida won the NCAA Title in the 2024-25 season, finishing with a 36-4 record. The Gators played at a high level again in the 2025-26 season, finishing 27-8, but lost in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.

With a recent championship, Florida is one of the best college basketball programs, making them an intriguing landing spot for the top recruits.
The Gators also have a quality roster in place for the 2026-27 season, which gives them a chance to contend for another title.
Florida will be led by guard Boogie Fland, center Rueben Chinyelu, and forward Thomas Haugh . Fland had a solid year in the 2025-26 season, averaging 11.6 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.7 steals per game, shooting 44.7 percent from the field and 24 percent from deep.
Chinyelu will be the defensive anchor, as he averaged 10.9 points, 11.2 rebounds, and a block per game, shooting 58.4 percent from the floor.

Haugh may be their most important player, as he was a Consensus All-American, averaging 17.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.1 steals, and a block per game, shooting 46 percent from the field and 32.6 percent from behind the arc.
With Florida set to contend for a third straight season, which will help in their pursuit of top prospects like Black.
