Regardless of whether he actually sold the call, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby picked the wrong team to get an embellishment penalty against in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Penguins dropped their third straight game to their rival Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday night to fall in a 3-0 series hole, but it was Crosby’s penalty that stole the headlines. Crosby and Flyers fans have been at war for over 20 years, and this might be the moment that every Philly fan will remember forever.

The Flyers faithful immediately jumped all over the Penguins’ captain on Wednesday night, and the icing on the cake was the Penguins blowing a 1-0 lead. The Penguins entered the series as favorites over the Flyers, but Philadelphia has dominated since the opening puck drop .

The last laugh will be if the Flyers can pull off the sweep in Game 4 , but Philadelphia fans took a swipe at Crosby for his diving antics with a well-placed billboard.

The last thing Flyers fans want to do is give Crosby any more motivation to rally back from a 3-0 series deficit. It’ll take alot more than Crosby to get the job done, but it’s always hard to rule the Penguins’ captain out.

The Flyers-Penguins series was supposed to be the start of something special for Pittsburgh fans who could be watching the last playoff run for Pittsburgh’s core. However, unless the Penguins do something only four teams in NHL history have done, Flyers fans may get to say their team was the one that finished off Pittsburgh’s big three as we know it.
