The Philadelphia Flyers officially announced that they have recalled AHL veteran forward Garrett Wilson to join them in the NHL.
Wislon was on an AHL-only contract, and has been for a while. Just prior to the NHL trade deadline, the Flyers signed Wilson to an NHL contract, making him eligible to be recalled by the team at some point this season.
Well, now that time has come.
Wilson is a long-time AHL veteran who does have some NHL games under his belt. He has played 84 regular-season games throughout his NHL career. The winger will provide some toughness and protection for his teammates, just as he did in the AHL.
Wilson has been part of the Phantoms' leadership group since joining the organization in 2020. He has donned the captain's "C" for the past three seasons.
This year, Wilson has 4 goals and 16 total points in 54 games played with the Phantoms.
It remains unclear whether or not Wilson has been recalled as an emergency call-up or if he will count towards one of the Flyers' remaining two call-ups. Denver Barkey and Alex Bump were the other two of the four the team has post-trade deadline.
Wilson could make his Flyers debut as early as Saturday vs. the Blue Jackets .
Welcome to Philadelphia , Garrett!
