Jack Grealish was yet to return to Everton's matchday squad for the 1-0 win over Newcastle United at St James' Park.
After being excluded at the weekend for disciplinary reasons, serious questions are now being asked of his future with the Toffees.
The 31-year-old is only on loan at the Hill Dickinson Stadium again this season, but fans can't help but fall in love with the tricky winger.
Despite the situation, he remains a fan-favourite with the Everton faithful, and many will hope that he's fit enough to face Coventry City on Friday, 6 November.
Mick Brown told Football Insiderthat members of the squad will be unhappy with Grealish and his actions, so he needs the forgiveness of more than just the fans.
And of course, it's noticeable when he's not in the team. He's a dribbling genius, and even without a goal contribution this term, he remains a vital player for David Moyes.
Tyrique George shines in Jack Grealish's absence
However, his absence at St James' Park on Monday, 2 November, helped unlock one of his teammates in the same position.
Tyrique George has just one goal contribution since joining the Toffees on a permanent deal, but there have been some very exciting signs from him.
On this occasion, he was given 90 minutes to show what he can do against Newcastle, and he took the opportunity with both hands.
Against the Magpies, George created one chance, had one shot saved, missed one big chance, and completed 75 per cent of his four dribbles, the most of anyone [ FotMob ].
He was also key defensively, making four recoveries, one tackle and one interception, as well as diving into eight total duels.
He may have offered something completely different in Grealish's absence, but different doesn't mean bad. In fact, the youngster flourished on the flank.

Moyes proved that his team can handle a game without Grealish, but undoubtedly, the manager would want his best players on the pitch.
There is now plenty of time before the Toffees' clash with Coventry this weekend, but George simply cannot be axed after his latest display.
Chelsea fans have been blown away by the 20-year-old's appearances since signing permanently for the Toffees, potentially regretting his sale.
The obvious move would be to reintroduce Grealish to the bench, and phase him back into the lineup slowly. But without him, George will get a much-needed run in the team.
