AJ Storr's basketball journey is adding yet another stop. The former Kansas guard has committed to UNLV after receiving an additional season of eligibility through the NCAA's ongoing court rulings involving Class of 2022 student-athletes. The move marks yet another chapter in one of the most unique basketball careers in recent memory, as Storr will now suit up for his fifth college program after attending four different high schools.
For Kansas fans, Storr's lone season in Lawrence remains one of the more disappointing transfer portal additions of the Bill Self era.
When Kansas landed Storr from Wisconsin ahead of the 2024-25 season, he was viewed as one of the nation's top transfer portal additions. Instead, the partnership never materialized.
After opening the year as a starter, Storr gradually lost his role in the rotation and finished the season averaging 6.1 points per game while shooting 38.4% from the field, the lowest scoring average and field-goal percentage of his collegiate career.
Although he showed flashes of improvement late in the season, he never developed into the offensive weapon Kansas envisioned when it landed one of the transfer portal's biggest names.
Following the season, Storr entered the transfer portal and transferred to Ole Miss.
Storr enjoyed a much stronger campaign with the Rebels during the 2025-26 season.
He averaged 15.5 points per game, re-establishing himself as a productive high-major scorer and rebuilding much of the draft buzz that had faded during his year at Kansas.
Most assumed that would conclude his college career.
However, recent court rulings granting additional eligibility to many members of the high school Class of 2022 reopened the door for another season, allowing Storr to return to college basketball.
He has now chosen UNLV for what will be his final collegiate season.
Storr's path to UNLV is almost unprecedented.
His basketball stops now include:
2018-19: Kankakee High School
2019-20: Bishop Gorman High School
2020-21: AZ Compass Prep
2021-22: IMG Academy
2022-23: St. John's
2023-24: Wisconsin
2024-25: Kansas
2025-26: Ole Miss
2026-27: UNLV
That gives Storr nine schools in nine years, including five different Division I programs.
Despite how his season unfolded in Lawrence, there is little reason for Kansas fans to harbor resentment toward Storr.
Sometimes highly regarded transfers simply fail to fit within a new system, and Kansas has experienced similar situations with other portal additions over the past several years.
Storr ultimately revived his career at Ole Miss and will now have one final opportunity to showcase his talent at UNLV thanks to the NCAA's evolving eligibility landscape.
Whether his final stop becomes his most successful remains to be seen, but his winding basketball journey has become one of the most remarkable stories in modern college basketball.
