Former Longhorn TE Amari Niblack declares for the NFL Draft

With the 2025 college football season nearly in the books, players nationwide are determining whether or not to enter the NFL Draft. Up until Saturday, that list included former Longhorns tight end Amari Niblack . The Florida native has decided to take his game to the next level and will now shift his focus to putting himself on the radar of NFL teams in need of help at tight end.

During his college career, Niblack played for Alabama , Texas , and Texas A&M. He began his career with the Crimson Tide, hauling in 21 passes for 342 yards. Following a career year in 2023, the Lakewood High Alum set his eyes on the Forty Acres and joined the Longhorns .

While he arrived on campus with high expectations, Niblack's time in Austin did not go as planned. He only hauled in five catches for 33 yards, averaging 6.6 yards per catch. As the former three-star recruit struggled to find carve out a role, he fell behind on the depth chart. As a result, he transferred to Texas A&M for his final season.

Although Niblack was in a new system his luck did not change. He finished the 2025 campaign with 69 receiving yards on five catches. While he was able to do more with the ball in his hands it marked third time in four years that Niblack finished a season with less than 70 receiving yards.

After announcing that he was entering the draft, Niblack thanked Texas A&M and Alabama for their impact on his career. He did not mention the Longhorns or any members of the coaching staff. There have never been reports of a feud between him and the coaching staff.

Over the next few months, it will be interesting to see how scouts value Niblack. While he showed flashes of being an impact piece, he was unable to separate himself on the depth chart. His goal will be to show scouts that his 2023 campaign, in which he set career highs in catches (20) and receiving yards (327), was no fluke.

Regardless of how the draft process plays out, Niblack showed enough that three SEC programs were willing to take a chance on him.
