Former Marquette star Tyler Kolek plays in G League/NBA doubleheader

Tyler Kolek is a well-known basketball junkie.

The guard's all-consuming passion for hoops is a big reason why the Marquette men's basketball coaches were bullish on Kolek's potential when he was an overlooked transfer from George Mason in 2021. That bet paid off when Kolek became a two-time All-American for the Golden Eagles.

That hasn't changed now that Kolek is a few seasons into a professional career.

Kolek had an incredible day on March 22 while playing a rare basketball doubleheader.

First, he scored a career-high 42 points and handed out 11 assists in a home game for the Westchester Knicks of the G League. Since that was an afternoon game just outside of New York, Kolek had time to rush over to Madison Square Garden to join the parent club for an NBA game against the Washington Wizards .

The 24-year old showed why he is a fan favorite among the Knicks faithful , banging in three 3-pointers and scoring 11 points in just five minutes in the fourth quarter of a blowout win.

Kolek has pulled off the doubleheader before. In January 2025 , he had 36 points and 11 assists for Westchester, then played 12 minutes for the Knicks that evening.
