PEORIA — Matthew Zobrist has chosen a new team.
The former Bradley Braves guard is headed to Belmont for the 2026-27 season. Belmont confirmed social media reports that he has committed to the Missouri Valley Conference basketball team.

Transfers within the Valley have been a growing trend in the 2026 NCAA portal season, which officially closed on Tuesday.

Zobrist was part of a Metamora team that reached the IHSA state title game twice, winning it all in Class 3A . He was an IBCA all-state pick and in four varsity seasons led Metamora to 100+ wins.
His freshman season with Bradley included 13 games, with 5.1 minutes per game. He averaged 1.5 points per game and shot 33.3% from the field and 25% from 3-point range.
"I want to say thanks to everyone who supported me, the fans who believed in me, my teammates and my coaches," Zobrist said on April 13 when he entered the transfer portal.

All but one of Bradley's out-bound transfers have a new home for 2026-27 now.
Jaquan Johnson landed at Iowa State, Montana Wheeler at Kansas State, Demarion Burch at Illinois State , Kai Yu at Valparaiso and now Zobrist at Belmont.
Handy Toussaint III is the remaining BU transfer without a team.
