Former Michigan Player Makes Serious Accusation Against Sherrone Moore
A former Michigan Wolverines football player has made a "serious" accusation against ex-head coach Sherrone Moore.
Moore, who was fired by the school in December, allegedly had an inappropriate relationship with a female staff member. He was later arrested by Michigan police after making threats following his firing. Moore is now facing serious jail time.
One former Michigan player claims that Moore was "blackmailed" into not playing him during his time in Ann Arbor. The player, who transferred out, claims that players and staff members were "blackmailing" Moore into decisions.
"I was treated unfairly due to Sherrone Moore being blackmailed by players and staff members, which jeopardized my opportunity to get on the field," former Michigan wide receiver Anthony Simpson wrote in social media post that has since been deleted, according to WDIV Local 4 in Detroit.
He added: "Fastest player on the team and I won reps everyday in practice. Only there for fall camp. Our team captains also advocated for me to play. I was denied fairness."
The veteran wide receiver played one season at Michigan. He recorded one carry for 10 yards. Simpson, who entered the NCAA transfer portal in January, previously played at Arizona and UMass.
"Thank you god for it all 🙏🏾" he announced in a transfer portal post. "I know you have a plan for me! True hard worker who needs an explosive playmaker? slot & outside and I run every route in the tree 💯."
But Simpson's claim has been called out by others.
Former Michigan player disagrees with Simpson
While Moore was fired for having an inappropriate relationship with a staff member, it's yet to be proven that the relationship impacted his decision making as a head coach.
Former Michigan wide receiver Semaj Morgan , who transferred to UCLA , disputed his ex-teammate's comments online.
"Y'all let people tell y'all anything and believe it," Morgan wrote.
Michigan has since hired former Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham to lead the program.
