The SMU Mustangs are bringing in a former MLB player for their football team ahead of the 2026 season.
Jordyn Adams , a former blue-chip recruit in the 2018 recruiting class, signed with North Carolina out of high school but never made it to campus. Instead, Adams signed with the Los Angeles Angels after they drafted him 17th overall in the 2018 MLB draft.
Adams has spent the last eight years playing professional baseball, primarily in the Angels organization. He made his major league debut in Los Angeles in 2023, and he appeared in 28 games over two seasons. Adams also played in five games with the Baltimore Orioles in 2025.
Now, he's joining Rhett Lashlee's team at the age of 26. A native of Cary, North Carolina, Adams was the No. 58 prospect in the 2018 class. After a foray into professional baseball, he'll be pursuing football with what should be an ACC contender this fall.
