Former Ohio State basketball forward Devin Royal finds a new home
Former Ohio State basketball forward Devin Royal will finish his career in the Big East.
According to Joe Tipton of On3, Royal has committed to play his final season of eligibility for the Villanova Wildcats after entering his name in the transfer portal last week. A local product from Pickerington, Ohio, Royal carved out a spot in the rotation in Columbus from the time he stepped on the court through last season. His productivity went up each of the three years in the Scarlet and Gray, ultimately finishing with 13.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists last year.
He figured to be a big part of things again next season, but would probably be in line to lose his starting spot to incoming 5-star freshman Anthony Thompson , so that appears to be what led him to look elsewhere. There are a lot worse places to land than a Villanova program that has been one of the very best in the nation over the years.
While Royal is on his way out, there are others that Ohio State is pulling in from the transfer portal. We are keeping track of all the comings and goings in the portal for you so that you can follow along.
