A former Carolina Panthers defender has now picked up the second stop of his first NFL campaign.
As announced on Monday morning, the Pittsburgh Steelers have signed cornerback Jaylin Guilbeau. The rookie spent part of the offseason as a member of the Panthers.
Carolina signed Guilbeau, a standout at the University of Texas, as an undrafted free agent back in the spring. He played four seasons for the Longhorns —amassing 124 combined tackles (8.0 for a loss), a sack, an interception and 10 passes defensed.
Guilbeau would be placed on the reserve/non-football injury list on July 21, right at the start of training camp. He was waived with an injury designation a day later.
In addition to signing Guilbeau, the Steelers also made a roster move involving another former Panthers defensive back and Charlotte, N.C. native—safety Israel Mukuamu . Mukuamu, a member of Carolina's practice squad for a portion of the 2025 season, was placed on Pittsburgh's reserve/injured list.
