Former Panthers WR released by UFL team

A former Carolina Panthers wideout has been released . . . from another league.

As announced on Sunday, the United Football League's Birmingham Stallions have parted ways with receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. The 27-year-old spent a pair of seasons with the Panthers before falling out of the NFL in 2025.

Shenault was acquired by Carolina in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars in the summer of 2022. The swap sent the former second-round pick to the Panthers in exchange for a 2023 seventh-rounder and a 2024 sixth-rounder.

He'd go on to appear in 21 games for the team—amassing 37 receptions for 332 yards and a touchdown along with 21 rushing attempts for 120 yards and another score.

Birmingham selected Shenault, whose last NFL stint came with Buffalo Bills in the 2025 offseason, as part of the 2026 UFL Draft. He totaled just one catch for seven yards over four games with the Stallions.
