A transfer running back is no longer with the Nebraska football team as of Monday. Penn State and Iowa Western Community College transfer Tikey Hayes was dismissed from the team.
Hayes is a redshirt freshman and spent the 2025 season at Penn State. The former three-star recruit signed with the Nittany Lions after totaling 3,261 rushing yards and 43 touchdowns in his final two seasons at Aliquippa (Pa.) High School. He received offers from 14 Division I programs, including Ohio State and Tennessee .
He transferred to Iowa Western Community College back in January, before joining the Huskers. Hayes spent just 33 days on Nebraska's roster. The Huskers are now back to six running backs entering the 2026 season.
Mekhi Nelson, Kwinten Ives and Isaiah Mozee all took snaps for Nebraska in 2025. The Huskers also have Jamal Rule, an incoming freshman; Conor Booth, a redshirt freshman; and Vincent Genatone, a transfer from Montana.
