Former Philadelphia Eagles star claims AJ Brown ‘wants to be traded’ this offseason
AJ Brown ’s future with the Philadelphia Eagles is suddenly under the spotlight, and this time, the noise is coming from someone who knows the building.
Nick Foles did not hold back when discussing the star wide receiver’s situation, suggesting there may already be movement behind the scenes.
That immediately shifts the conversation from speculation to something far more serious. Because if a Super Bowl-winning quarterback is hinting at a possible exit, it is not something the Eagles can simply brush aside.
Nick Foles suggests AJ Brown wants out of Philadelphia
Speaking on his podcast, The SZN , Foles pointed directly at a potential trade scenario.
“What I have gathered is [he] wants to be traded. But I also think he wants to be traded to specific places. I think New England would make a lot of sense because of his history with [Mike] Vrabel.
“I think that’s obvious. I think he even said he grew up a Patriots fan if I’m correct. So that would be a twofold situation,” Foles stated.
The New England angle is not random. Brown’s connection to Vrabel from their Tennessee days, combined with his reported childhood ties, makes it a logical landing spot if things escalate.
Still, this remains a claim rather than a confirmed move, but it is enough to raise real questions about where things stand internally.
Why AJ Brown’s situation could be more complicated
Foles didn’t just stop at trade speculation. He also pointed to on-field habits that may have contributed to frustration.
“I think at this point you do it. But that’s tough for me. What came to my mind right there is that I think AJ Brown is an incredible wide receiver,” he continued.
“But, but, but there were several times last year where I saw him throttle in on routes or not thinking the ball was going to go his way. And that was the difference in a completion and not,” Foles concluded.
That kind of detail matters. It suggests the issue may not just be contract or destination, but also rhythm within the offense and trust in how plays develop.
For a receiver of Brown’s caliber, even small lapses in timing or effort can be magnified over a full season, and for the Eagles, it creates a difficult balance.
Right now, nothing is official. But when a name like Foles brings this into the open, it is no longer just background noise.
