Pittsburgh traded Lawrence to the Twins on June 1 for cash considerations after he was DFA'd by the Pirates on May 29. However, on June 21, the Twins announced that the team had DFA'd Lawrence and reinstated left-handed pitcher Kendra Rojas from the 15-day injured list.
Lawrence made seven relief appearances for the Twins and struggled, as he allowed 12 runs on 10 hits in six innings, while walking nine and striking out 12. He finished his Twins tenure going 0-1 with an 18.00 ERA.
Pittsburgh claimed Lawrence off waivers from the Colorado Rockies on March 3, 2025. He began the 2025 season pitching well as he had a 0.79 ERA in 11 games before being sent to the injured list on April 24. He returned on September 12 and finished the year going 1-0 with a 0.51 ERA in 17 games.
However, to begin the 2026 season, Lawrence struggled as he was 0-2 with a 5.32 ERA in 23 games, which led to him being DFA'd.
As for the Pirates, Pittsburgh will look to avoid being swept by the Rockies on Sunday.
