Former Steelers QB struggles in his first start with new team

The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to look like winners in the 2024 offseason Kenny Pickett trade , as their former first-round quarterback just had one of the worst games of his career as a starter.

In his first start as a Raider , Pickett struggled immensely against his former Philadelphia Eagles , completing 15 of 25 pass attempts for just 64 yards and zero touchdowns, while also throwing one interception in the rough Week 15 outing. He finished the contest with a dreadful 47.9 passer rating and was a major reason why Las Vegas was shut out, losing 31-0 to Philadelphia.

Selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 20th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Pickett has appeared in nine games since leaving Pittsburgh in 2024, throwing for 460 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions.

It remains to be seen how many opportunities await Pickett in Las Vegas, as the Raiders manage Geno Smith ’s shoulder injury, with head coach Pete Carroll declining to acknowledge whether their starting quarterback would return to practice ahead of Week 16’s matchup against the Houston Texans .
