The Texas A&M Aggies are in the middle of fall camp with the 2026 season only a few weeks away from kicking off.
Despite a ton of veterans returning, Texas A&M is entering some unknown territory at the running back position. After having loads of experience in the backfield the past few years, the Aggies will enter the season with some uncertainty about how Rueben Owens II, Jamarion Morrow and KJ Edwards will be able to carry the load.
If the Aggies wanted to bring back a veteran to their running back room, it appeared that possibility was there after the 5-by-5 court ruling for 2022 recruits, but not until a recent clarification shut down that possibility in regards to one notable former Texas A&M starter.

Former Texas A&M running back Le'Veon Moss was recently listed by On3's Pete Nakos as a player that could return college football following the recent court ruling that gave 2022 recruits another year of eligibility.
However, since Moss signed an undrafted deal with the Miami Dolphins earlier this offseason, this makes him ineligible to return. U.S. District Judge Charlotte Sweeney clarified this after the initial belief was that Moss, among many other 2022 recruits fighting for an NFL roster spot, would have a chance to come back to college football despite signing a professional deal at some this offseason.
Moss announced his retirement from football shortly after signing with the Dolphins. Had he not signed an NFL deal, the opportunity to return to Texas A&M would have been there had he eventually changed his mind to play football again, Considering some of the youth that Texas A&M is set to have at running back this fall, Moss' experience would have been an interesting addition to the offense, making a reunion logical.
Another chance at a productive season would've help Moss rewrite the final chapter of his college football career, though it wouldn't have come without some legal concerns.

Moss was arrested in Baton Rouge last month on charges of cruelty to a juvenile, according to reports from WBRZ News , after his 2-year-old son accidently shot himself after getting ahold of Moss' firearm.
If Moss were to attempt a return to Texas A&M, his legal situation could impact those chances. Aggie fans will have to keep an eye on how things play out for Moss off the field before getting any hopes up about him rejoining the roster.
Texas A&M's heated rival, the Texas Longhorns, have already shown what's possible after bringing back offensive lineman Cole Hutson in the middle of fall camp. A 2022 recruit, he was one of the many players that sued the NCAA for an additional year of eligibility.
However, unlike Moss, he never signed a professional contract. Hutson received rookie minicamp invites from both the Dallas Cowboys and Cleveland Browns but never signed a deal with either team, instead participating on a tryout basis.
