Former top-100 recruit to enter transfer portal after 1 season with Butler basketball

Butler basketball point guard Azavier "Stink" Robinson has entered the transfer portal, his Twitter account reposted recruiting analyst Sam Kayser's post, citing Robinson's agency League Ready.

Robinson joins joins former Bulldogs Jamie Kaiser Jr and Evan Haywood who intend to enter the portal. The Field of 68 previously reported Jack McCaffery's intentions to do so in a since-deleted post. The highest-rated member of Butler's highly touted 2025 recruiting class , a top-100 rated player, Robinson was thrust into the starting lineup after point guard Jalen Jackson had season-ending ankle surgery in late December. The 6-foot-2 Robinson made 15 starts before a left wrist injury that required surgery ended his season. In 22 games, Robinson averaged 6.1 points, 2.5 assists and 1.9 rebounds per game. Robinson shot 43% from 3 and 71% from the free throw line.

The all-time leading scorer at Lawrence North, Robinson came to Butler as a hyper athletic, hard-nosed point guard, but the transition to the Big East took time. He struggled with turnovers early in his career but started to turn the corner one early in conference play. Robinson broke out with consecutive double-digit scoring efforts against Seton Hall and DePaul, combining for 27 points, 10 assists and just two turnovers. The 6-foot-2 guard played three more games after his mini breakout before getting shutdown with a left wrist injury.

Butler introduces Ronald Nored as next men’s head basketball coach

Nolan Hamilton, a Butler University student and president of the Dog Pound, poses Friday, March 27, 2026, in his Robot Ron outfit in honor or newly named Butler head coach Ronald Nored.

Robinson was always viewed as Butler's point guard of the future. He earned valuable experience, but his timeline to the full-time point guard role became cloudy once Jackson earned a medical redshirt and a fifth year of college eligibility.

Losing a high-upside, local prospect is a big blow to Butler.
