- Former WVU QB Nicco Marchiol commits to Northwestern
Despite the Northwestern Wildcats soon set to begin spring practices, they aren't done adding talent to their quarterback room. Former West Virginia Mountaineers passer Nicco Marchiol has officially committed to Northwestern, per On3's Pete Nakos.
Marchiol spent the last four seasons at West Virginia , starting several games during his tenure. In all, he completed 137 of 220 passes, good for 62.3%, for 1,462 yards, 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also carried the ball 124 times for 341 yards and four scores.

The 6-foot-2, 235-pounder never commanded the full-time starting role with the Mountaineers, instead operating as a backup and spot-starter due to injuries. Now, he's taking his talents to Northwestern, where he'll presumably be the backup to former Michigan State starting quarterback Aidan Chiles .
2026 represents a regime change on the offensive side of the ball for the Wildcats, as they hired offensive coordinator Chip Kelly in hopes of jumpstarting a unit that has been in the bottom half of the Big Ten the last few seasons.
In adding Marchiol, Northwestern will have another option at quarterback, as Chiles was benched several times during his Spartans tenure.

Marchiol will have one season of eligibility remaining with the Wildcats.
