A former Michigan State Spartans point guard has been in touch with a number of schools as he looks for a new team to complete his college career.
Former Spartans point guard Tre Holloman has reportedly received interest from a number of schools since entering the transfer portal. Holloman is one of the players who pursued a fifth year of eligibility through a lawsuit filed against the NCAA by members of the 2022 recruiting class. A federal court judge in Colorado granted the players' petition for an injunction, clearing the way for them to potentially play this season.
According to a report from college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, Holloman has received interest from Utah State , Cincinnati, St. John's and Providence. Michigan State is not expected to be in the mix for Holloman.
Holloman played the first three seasons of his collegiate career with the Spartans before transferring to NC State for this past season. He appeared in 106 games during his three years with the Spartans. He averaged 9.1 points and 3.7 assists per game during his final season in 2024-25.
In his lone season with NC State, Holloman appeared in 32 games (27 starts). He ended the season averaging 9.2 points and 2.1 assists per game with the Wolfpack.
There was a brief time this summer when it appeared Michigan State and Holloman might reconnect. He was back in the area and participating in Moneyball Pro-Am, but Tom Izzo was happy with the roster he had built before this injunction was granted, so it appears Holloman will look elsewhere. It'll be interesting to see where Holloman lands to finish his college career.
