Tom Masters previews Fulham's clash with Aston Villa in the Premier League.
It is almost that time of the week again when decisions need to be made regarding Fantasy Premier League and if you owned any Fulham assets, they may well be in your 'to sort' category of players.
The Cottagers resumed after the international break with a rare trio of matches against newly promoted sides, facing Ipswich, Hull and Coventry in three consecutive weeks, which prompted many to opt for a punt with Fulham players.
Now of course, if you yourself are of a Fulham persuasion, you are that much more likely to have been swayed as I was, into picking a player from the Cottagers.
I went for Josh King, who, while frustrating to own through this period, did at least reward me as an owner with an assist against Coventry, taking his tally to a disappointing 10 points from three games.
But, of course, if you went for Gonzalo Garcia, as many did, he did not even deliver an assist or pick up the clean sheet point against Coventry and so his three successive blanks will have no doubt really frustrated owners.
Now of course, those incredibly tantalising fixtures have very much dried up and with Fulham scoring just four goals in their last five matches, owning attackers in an FPL sense makes very little sense in all honesty.
And so, I pose you the question, is it time to look to move on Fulham attackers and instead perhaps look towards defenders?
Fulham may have struggled in front of goal and as a result, owning any of their attackers has felt a little frustrating, especially with the chances created against Hull, in which both King and Garcia could easily have come out with serious scores.
And so, against better teams such as Aston Villa and Newcastle and then Manchester City after the break, owning Fulham attackers in FPL seems a tad futile.
But, despite those challenges, Fulham's defence has actually become frugal and maybe it could be time to go there instead.
Since David Affengruber came into the Fulham defence, the Cottagers have shored up significantly and the Austrian has three clean sheets to his name in five matches for the West London outfit.
In fact, if matches were 88 minutes long (I know, they are not), then Affengruber would not have conceded a goal in the Premier League since joining Fulham from Elche in the summer.
That to me makes him an intriguing option, and at £4.5m in FPL, he could easily be a good rotation option for your sides in more challenging weeks such as City.
What am I doing you ask?
Well, you probably didn't actually ask, but I shall be moving King on and returning to a Fulhamless squad (I know, sacrilege.)
