- Francisco Lindor Donated Over $1 Million to Build a School Gym and Lab
Francisco Lindor has spent much of his baseball career making fans smile. But one of his lasting gifts may be found far from a ballpark.
Since 2020, Lindor has donated more than $1 million to Montverde Academy in Florida , the school he attended after leaving Puerto Rico as an eighth grader. The contributions helped fund Lindor Hall, a two-story middle school with science and technology labs, classrooms and a gymnasium.

For Lindor, the investment is personal. Montverde Academy helped him grow academically and gain confidence as he adjusted to a new language and life in the United States.
Lindor made a $1 million gift toward the building's construction in 2021 and established the Francisco Lindor Scholarship Fund to help students who might not otherwise afford an education at the academy.

The scholarship reflects a lesson he learned as a student: a future in sports should not come at the expense of education. He wants young people to have the foundation that helped him pursue his dreams.

That commitment earned Lindor one of baseball's most meaningful honors. On Monday, Oct. 26, he was named the 2026 recipient of the Roberto Clemente Award, which recognizes character, community involvement and philanthropy.
The award carries special significance for Lindor, who grew up in Puerto Rico learning about Clemente's humanitarian legacy. He is the fifth Puerto Rican-born player to receive the honor.
Lindor's work extends beyond his former school. He has supported disaster relief in Puerto Rico, helped restore athletic facilities in his hometown of Caguas and launched a youth leadership program in Queens.

Still, Lindor Hall stands as a tangible part of his legacy. The building gives students a place to learn, explore science and technology, and imagine futures beyond the baseball field.
His career will be measured in hits, awards and seasons. At Montverde Academy, his name is also attached to something that can help generations of students find their own path.
