The Magic ruled Wagner out for the second straight game due to a right calf strain. Wagner suffered the injury during Orlando’s 94-88 Game 4 win on Monday.

His absence looms large for the Magic as they attempt to avoid becoming the 14th team in NBA history to blow a 3-1 series lead.

Wagner played an integral role in Orlando’s success early in the series. The 24-year-old has averaged 16.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists on 44/33/93 shooting splits across his four appearances. He’s posted a +9.1 net rating across 122 minutes, the highest of any Magic player during the series.

Paolo Banchero nearly willed the Magic to victory during Wednesday’s 116-109 Game 5 loss. The star forward posted a playoff career-high 45 points on 17-of-31 shooting from the field and 6-of-11 from three. However, he missed seven free throws, and the rest of Orlando’s starting unit struggled, combining to shoot 13-of-32 from the field.

Meanwhile, Cade Cunningham went shot-for-shot with Banchero , scoring 45 points on 13-of-23 shooting from the field, 5-of-8 from three and 14-of-14 from the free-throw line.

The Magic will need Desmond Bane to elevate his play offensively if they hope to close out the series with Wagner sidelined. Orlando is a 3.5-point home underdog on Saturday, per FanDuel Sportsbook.

Tobias Harris (left ankle sprain) and Kevin Huerter (left adductor strain) are questionable for the Pistons. Jonathan Isaac (left knee sprain) is doubtful for the Magic.
