FSU transfer edge is turning heads during the spring

Florida State needed to add to its defensive line in the transfer portal. In January, they added Texas A&M edge Rylan Kennedy.

As FSU navigates through its spring program, Kennedy has been one of the bright spots on defense, per Pete Nakos of On3 .

To this point, Texas A&M EDGE transfer Rylan Kennedy has picked up the most buzz of transfers on the defensive side of the ball. He’s looked impressive and proven he has a knack of getting to the ball. If the Seminoles can add transfers this spring, whether that be from Division II or unsigned players in the portal, they are expected to take a look at adding depth to the defensive line.

Kennedy comes to Florida State with 37 games of experience. As a freshman, Kennedy played in 11 games and produced six tackles and one pass breakup. His best overall campaign came as a sophomore when he logged 20 tackles, two tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and two pass breakups. Kennedy racked up 14 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and one pass breakup last season

The expectation is that Kennedy will be a piece on the defensive line that will contribute to go with Mandrell and Darryll Desir in 2026. How much he'll be on the field remains to be seen, especially if FSU adds more talent on the defensive line in the portal.
